Living with and raising crickets for food has become an integral part of my life. Through the experience a big hole in the home-cricket farmer world has become apparent to me.
While you could catch them in the wild and try to breed them yourself… that sounds as daunting as finding a needle in a hay stock, and then trying to spin that haystack into gold. Not to mention the health implications of coming across an insect that has ingested one of the millions of pesticides used on our plants and in our soils. To that end, my goal is to set up a cricket-farm network where home breeders can exchange eggs and tips, to ensure genetic diversity amongst cricket herds, and also maintain a continuing and supportive healthy relationship with our food. If you’re interested in becoming a cricket farmer and joining a network of like-minded alternative protein lovers – shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to hearing from you!
